The phrase ‘This is 2018!’ is now effective, so use it as much as you can before it becomes archaic next year. This year, I launched a project: ‘PAMPER YOUR SKIN’ and part of it is to learn how to properly take of our skin in 2018. The goal is to have flawless and healthy skin. Therefore in 2018, there are some skin care routines that needs to get in the deepest part of the sea.
Having said that, there are other skin care mistakes that have found their way into the mainstream, but please join hands with me as we bury them together.
SKIN CARE MISTAKES TO AVOID IN 2018
1. GLITTERY SKIN LOTIONS

Now, this jokey and funny stuff must stop in 2018 unless you are a model or a disco dancer, then you can carry on. Yes, I am aware that these shimmery lotion gives the body glow but then, we are not in Summer yet and This is 2018! Therefore we will not bring this trend to 2018. Seconded?
2. WHITENING AND LIGHTENING BODY LOTION

In 2017, the number of ‘black-whites‘ skyrocketed all thanks to whitening lotions and soaps. This trend has to stop because the disadvantages outweigh the benefits (if there are any). Whitening cream and soap pose serious health risks because of the presence of Hydroquinone.
Exposing the body to this toxic chemicals can cause serious health concerns like skin discolouration, increased risk of skin cancer and can destroy the elasticity of the skin. In case of surgery, stitching the skin might not be possible and can lead to infections.
If you want to stop using these harmful products, please fill the contact form below and I will have FREE 7 days bleaching cream withdrawal class with you.
3. NOT READING THE LABEL

This is 2018! Before you buy any product, please spend some time to consider the ingredients. The other day, I went to buy some skin care products and while making my purchase, I laid emphasis on, ‘do not give me any product that have any bleaching effect’, but I failed to read the labels. When I got home, I noticed that the supposed baby lotion she gave me contains hydroquinone. Do not make similar mistake.
4. USING EXPIRED PRODUCTS

You might be wondering how you are on the offenders list in this rule considering you read the expiry date before purchase. Have you ever taken notice of 24M or 12M inscribed in some products?
It is called shelf life and it simply means how many months you should use a product after unsealing it. Please make sure you don’t continue usage after the expiry of the shelf life.
5. PURCHASING UNREGULATED NATURAL SKIN AND BODY POLISHING LOTION

I’m not trying to spoil your hustle if you are a natural skin care Entrepreneur but let’s call a spade a spade. Most of these products are not certified by the body in charge neither are the ingredients regulated.
Most of these natural skin care Entrepreneurs have no certification and should not be selling those products in a sane country. I even heard some add urine and chemical relaxers in those product and claim they make the skin glow and whiter.
If you want a natural glowing skin, then increase your fruit and vegetable intake. Endeavour to drinks lots of water and protect your skin by wearing your sun protection.
This year, let’s chase money, happiness and above all, good health!

This post is very educative. Thank you for teaching me something new today. I never heard about the shelf life though.

Chioma, in as much as I like your blog, I must correct this erroneous impression that natural skincare products are not regulated. I worked so hard to get mine checked and NAFDAC confirmed it safe for use. I know there are bad eggs in the industry but some of us care about our customers and our products work. I can send one over to you for review.

I am sorry you feel offended but I had to put it out here, so my readers will know the truth about your industry.
Meanwhile, if your product is SAFE, then I can do a review. All the best!

I agree with you Chioma. Just the other day I wrote an article that contains similar information. Not all natural products are safe. Safe and Natural are two very different things. And there are so many products on the market these days. More than half of them aren’t suitable for every persons use or consumption!
