FALL/WINTER EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Last week, we talked about the best morning routine for fall and winter. If you haven’t read that post yet, please click here , as this is a follow up post. A good morning routine is as important as a good evening routine, which is why I am sharing my recommendations with you all today. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Cleansing

The best way to prep your skin for your evening routine is by cleansing your skin, to enable it absorb your skincare products generously. Investing in a good cleanser is a must, however you need to factor in your skin needs before choosing one. For example, people with acne-prone skin need to get a cleanser with salicylic acid to help with their breakout. Whatever you choose, make sure to double cleanse your skin, especially in the evening.

Actives

I am a big fan of actives because they target particular skin issues and fix them. For example, I recommend using a Retinol in the evening as it tends to increase the photosensitivity of your skin. Apply a few drops of your preferred active to your skin and neck and make sure to wear a Sunscreen the next morning to avoid sun damage to your skin.

Hyaluronic acid

By now, i’m sure you are bored to death hearing me repeat hyaluronic acid in all my posts. Well, the reason is clear: Our skin tend to loose moisture easily in the colder month, which is why your should up the use of this magic potion during this time, to help prevent moisture loss and to keep the skin supple.

Eye cream

This should be used religiously in the colder months to keep your eye area moisturized and healthy looking. If you battle with dark circles, get an eye cream that contains an active called EGCG which means Epigallocatechin Gallate. This is a plant compound that helps to reduce dark circles and puffiness, amongst its other benefits.

Moisturizer

Always finish off your skincare routine by wearing a moisturizer. I love using hydrating masks in winter/fall especially with the produts that hydrate the deep skin layers.

Lip Balm

Wearing a good lipbalm in the colder months, prevents your lips from getting chapped. Get one with calendula acid as it will protect your lips and keep them soft.

Now let’s hear from you. Which is your preferred skincare routine for the colder months?
